Yeah, I'm a creativity-crushing parent...

My 3-year-old puts together two long triangular Magnetiles and starts moving them side by side as if flapping wings.

S: Flap, flap, flap.
Me: Is that a Pteranodon?
S: No.
Me: Is it a bat?
S: No.
Me: Is it a bird?
S: No.
Me: What is it?
S: Airplane.
Me: Um...airplanes don't flap their wings, sweetie.
S: Oh...

A little while later:
S: Flap, flap, flap.
Me: Is that an airplane?
S: Bird.

Have I crushed my child's creativity?

No.

He needs to learn about reality at his age. Just introducing him to the idea of may winged things is good.

Pro tip: Ask "What have you made?". "Is it a..." makes you feed him the answers, rather than it being from his own mind.
She--this is Thing 2 we're talking about.

And I was kind of joking about the creativity crushing.
Ornithopter
Yeah, that's it! Thanks.
She seems completely uncrushed today. Kids bounce back fast.
You just need to teach S. the word ornithopter. :)
Wow, that's two votes for ornithopter--from very different quarters.
